Souvenirs and more - Shopping

Taipei is increasingly becoming a popular destination for shoppers all around the world. With its innumerable shopping arcades, boutique stores, and raging night markets, it is a shoppers' paradise not just for the Asian shopaholics but also for the Westerners who are looking to buy anything that their hearts desire at a heavily bargained price. Shopping in Taipei is nothing less than a national sport. Once in the Taipei city, you are sure to find anything and everything ranging from the finest luxury items to the simplest form of jewelry like trinkets. The most popular areas for shopping in Taipei are the Daan and Xinyi with every other building being an air-conditioned mall with a range of international brands on display. To make it simpler for the shopaholics, whole parts of these areas are dedicated to a different type of product enabling you to buy items from local craftsmen and designers at reasonable prices.

Taipei also has an illuminating night shopping scene. There are countless night markets dotted throughout the city offering not just the best shopping experience for wares and souvenirs at a great bargain but also the delicious street food.

  1. Taipei 101 Shopping Mall

The Taipei 101Shopping Mall occupies the first few floors of the Taipei 101 tower. The mall is known for its luxurious shops selling international brands from nearly all over the world like French Connection, Versace, and Armani Exchange, especially fashion and fine dining. The mall sells a plethora of items from digital products to luxury goods and brings a sumptuous end to a terrific shopping experience at its food court.

  1. Shilin Night Market

With its many options, it becomes difficult to decide where to shop in Taipei. However, shopping in Taipei is incomplete without a haggling experience in its night markets. The Shilin Night Market is the biggest and most favored by both tourists and locals. Located in the area of Dadong Road, the market starts at five in the evening and goes till late at night. The food court at Shilin houses more than five hundred food stalls and a wide range of other goods on sale. There are areas dedicated separately for furniture, pets, clothing, shoes, photos, souvenirs and much more making the shopping experience easier. Though the market is centered on Cicheng Temple and Yangming Theatre, it spreads to the surrounding streets filled with cinemas, video arcades, karaoke bars and many other small businesses taking the shopping to a whole new level. The bustling environment is exactly what you will need to bargain a good deal out of the shopping experience.

  1. Miramar Entertainment Park

Another place that tourists flock to have more than just a great shopping experience is the Miramar Entertainment Park at Zhongshan. The park houses a 70-meter-tall Ferris wheel which is the second tallest in Taiwan and an IMAX theatre with the largest movie screen in Asia. The park is lined up with stores of well-known brands like Montblanc, Roberta di Camerino, and Chanel all over its six floors. You can find a lot of shopping products on sale including fashion accessories, toys, sports equipment, and cosmetics with a delicious cuisine to wrap up the day. Because the park has so much more to offer other than just a great shopping experience, it earned the title of being an Entertainment Park.
