Travel Guide To Zanzibar
Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous archipelago off the coast of Tanzania. It consists of the Zanzibar island, locally called Unguja, Pemba island, and many smaller islands. Zanzibar was the location of the world’s smallest war in the year 1896, surrendering to Britain after about forty minutes of naval bombardment.
It is located due north of Dar es Salaam across the Zanzibar channel and has two main parts – the Stone Town and Ng’ambo. Ng’ambo literally means ‘the other side.’ Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is the historical center of the city. Ng’ambo is a modern area developed around the Stone Town, comprising large apartment blocks and office buildings. The two are divided by a creek, now a large street called the Creek Road.
Visa requirements for visiting Zanzibar city are different for different countries. The citizens of Romania, Rwanda, Hong Kong, South Africa, Malaysia, Namibia, and all commonwealth member states except Australia, Canada, Bangladesh, Nigeria, India, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand do not need a visa if there stay is for less than three months. The Visa can be obtained on arrival.
You will never have to think about what to do in Zanzibar City as the city is filled with amazing places to see and things to do. Visit Zanzibar City for its white sand beaches of the North, South and East coasts that have the consistency of castor sugar and are on the top the to-do list of many travelers. Arrange for a walking tour through a local guide to take you around the historical Stone Town and witness the plain beauty of the buildings in the area. One other reason to visit the Zanzibar city is its beautiful caves like the Kuumbi caves in Jambiani and Tazani near Nungwi. Local excursions are arranged to the caves by tour companies that sometimes take you off the beaten track.

I and my wife were up for an adventure and that is why we chose Zanzibar in Tanzania, Africa for our vacation. We had heard mixed reviews about this place but we were eager to witness it ourselves. Zanzibar is truly a magical city. The city is safe and here we enjoyed some of world’s most beautiful beaches. The Stone Town, a majestic Swahilian trading town, the Prison Island that once held notable personalities, historical sites, the slave market and top-notch street food made our trip amazing. It was one of the best trips that we have ever experienced! Africa is beautiful!!!

It feels like history is in the air of this city and the creepiest yet an exciting historical experience is to visit the Slave Market! Also, a visit to the Prison Island was fun too! It is best to visit this for 2 to 3 days as these are enough to explore the city attractions.

Ignoring the poverty situation, this city is amazing. It offers amazing attractions and activities. My 2-day tour was filled with surprises of historical structures and beautiful beaches. Would definitely visit again.
