As compared to other cities in Vietnam, getting around in Hoi An is fairly easy due to its small size, a number of pedestrian lanes, and most importantly its budget-friendly modes of transportation. Most prominent attractions, bars, restaurants, and shops within the town of Hoi An are easily accessible using its various transportation modes, including cycles and bicycles. Hoi An Ancient Town sees fewer motorized vehicles during several hours of the day to ensure the safety of the visitors.
A plethora of natural attractions exist within the range of ten kilometers from the UNESCO World Heritage Site some of which include local villages, quiet beaches, and verdant mountains. You can ensure a hassle-free vacation in Hoi An, thanks to its many ways of getting around.

Cycle – Best Way to see Hoi An
The cheapest and easiest way of getting around Hoi An is on a cycle, especially if you are traveling to the Ancient Town. Roads are rarely busy on most days and remain closed for motorcycles, cars, or taxis within the Hoi An Ancient Town from 08:30 to 11:00 in the morning and from 15:00 to 21:30 later in the afternoon till night. There are several bike rental shops to choose from or you can ask your hotel to arrange one for you. A bicycle would cost about VND 30,000 per day.

Taxis
A readily available option on the streets of Hoi An is taxis. The trick is to look for reliable taxi companies like Mai Linh and Faifoo. A ride from the Da Nang International Airport would cost anywhere between VND 250,000 to 350,000 through the rates can get higher if your hotel arranges a taxi for you.

Motorcycles
If you plan to take a detour from the streets of Hoi An to the countryside, Motorcycles are the best option for you. Hoi An’s rustic villages, vast coastline, and even its marble laden mountains can be best explored on a motorcycle. They can be hired for about VND 100,000 and onwards, a standard cost which includes the bike with a helmet. Before renting the bike, make sure to click pictures of dents and scratches, to avoid any tussle at the last minute. Also, ensure that the headlights and brakes are in proper order and remember to drive on the right-hand side of the road, just like in the rest of Vietnam.

Cyclos
Cyclos are another great way to explore Hoi An, especially its Ancient Town. They are readily available within the Ancient Town and offer a fun-filled ride along its pedestrian-friendly streets. They can accommodate up to two people at a time. Most cyclo operators are more than happy and welcoming to provide information on the major landmarks and history of the city. Though a standard hire charge of a cycle would usually be VND 22,000 for a kilometer, a fixed charge or an hourly rate can always be negotiated if you plan to go beyond the city for an adventure.
With so many options, it can safely be said that the best way to see Hoi An would be on a cycle. A lot of it would also depend on what are you looking for to explore in a city, the long distance travels on a motorcycle or an easy ride in a taxi.
