Not so “Grand”...
We stayed at Grandvrio for 5 days and rented a private villa with a pool.
Pros:
-villas are in good conditions, very private and quiet.
-hotel is located on a stretch of beach without lots of dvpts around which makes it super comfy.
-the beach is very nice, water is not transparent but temperature is just perfect and with waves (for more fun).
-a gym, even if it could propose more machines.
:
Not so grand
- price did not match expectations
-staff is very nice but english level is too low, it takes too much efforts to get anything simple done. From booking a restaurant to a visit, we quickly gave up on asking help of receptionists.
-service can be improved a lot: no staff goes regularly to the beach to take orders (food and drinks), breakfast by the beach quickly becomes hell with lots of flies inviting themselves while few fans would just prevent that.
-yoga sessions are on the sand, under palm trees: build a pagoda on the beach, the experience (without sand allover) would be so much nicer.
-food: this is the biggest issue of that place: breakfast, lunch or dinner are just terrible, bad selection of dishes, poor quality of ingredients (we had to buy fruits at the market cause the hotel proposed no taste, no mature fruits and just watermelon, melon and pineapple. Pity when you know how many good fruits are around). No healthy options...
-when asking about the four stars of the hotel, staff said they cannot have a 5th one cause no tennis court... it shows how much they are not trained about a proper international service.

All staff are showing their beautiful smiles to welcome their guests, they're all helpful. Staff provide excellent services, eg Staff took her initiative asking us what's our plan today at our breakfast time, and gave us advices on Ba Na Hill, we has already booked the entry tickets, but hotel staff helped us to book round-trip car with reasonable price (cheaper than I booked online)
:
Better to have more shuttle cars to Hoi An Old Town, the last returning car is scheduled at 7 pm is too early (most of the guests would stay there at night time) Hotel can consider to add one more car at 9 pm.

Beautiful location, clean beach, and wonderful rooms
:
Exceedingly over enthusiastic staff, who conflate eagerness with hospitality.
- There was no 'Do not Disturb' option for the door, and I was interrupted at least 4 times a day by staff offering room cleaning, offering turn-down services, asking if I needed anything, etc, even though I made clear on day one that I was looking for a quiet holiday, mostly spent relaxing at the villa's private pool.
- The manager would literally accost me at breakfast each morning inquiring as to why I wasn't using more on-site services, and suggesting my stay would be improved if I explored more of the resort.
- Everywhere I walked, what felt like an staff army followed behind, offering repeatedly to help (carry my luggage, open the door, etc), even though this help was firmly declined each time. In fact, I had to physically hold them off at times, because they simply would not listen to a verbal 'NO'
While I'm sure some people would appreciate this level of 'aggressive' support, for me, it utterly destroyed what was supposed to be a peaceful and relaxing holiday. The staff at this hotel need to learn that a one-size-fits-all approach to hospitality doesn't work, that each guest will have different expectations and needs. Many prefer solitude and relaxation to having dozens of staff members asking questions and interrupting one's peace each day, and the hotel needs to be able to recognize this and cater to it.

The hotel area is great! It is very clean, beautiful and very well maintained! The coconut beach area is calm, relaxing and simply gorgeous - with hammocks, swings and sofas, the plants on the hotel area are amazing and everything is so well taken care of! The rooms were super clean and comfortable with a large balcony and comfy hanging chairs. The kids club offered our little one a great space to play when it was too hot outside! Clean pools, yummy breakfast and good on site restaurants with reasonable prices! Special thanks goes to the great staff - everybody was so nice, friendly, helping and welcoming! Really great service!

There was nothing we disliked, but we would like to make a suggestion to install some changing facilities for babies/toddlers - there were many families with kids and unfortunately not a single changing facility by the "public" spaces on site (no changing table in the restaurant restroom, by the pool etc...). We were missing it since we were traveling with a baby and had to go to our room every time we wanted to change the diaper. Also the high chairs are not really suitable for smaller kids... But these are merely suggestions for improvement.

The room was huge modern and clean which was fantastic. The staff in the reception area were extremely helpful and everyone said hello (Xin Chao) every time you went through reception. One lady who was looking after us would ask us at breakfast how everything was and if we needed anything. Walking through the palm trees to the beach area is very beautiful. The whole resort looked very clean and well maintained. The breakfast is good. The Free shuttle bus was good but we only used it twice because it only went and returned at certain times.
:
There was no wifi around the main pool area which I found extremely frustrating. I wanted to organise our days out while sitting around the pool but I had to walk towards the reception area to get a signal. You had to hire the pool toys which my kids didnt like. The location isn't great. It's halfway between Hoi An and Da Nang and if you wanted to go out for dinner you had to jump in a taxi because there was nothing outside the resort that you could walk to. There was a free shuttle bus into Hoi An and Danang every day but only at certain times. We wanted a resort to relax at but we also wanted to get out and about and I found the travel times in taxi's was a bit too much in the end.
