Shopping is one of the most common activity for tourists. None of the trips are complete without wandering around the hottest shopping spots in the city. Shopping in Doha is fun and exciting, there are local street markets and high-end shopping spots, and each of these offers a dynamic shopping experience to the tourists. The street markets can be a bit crowded but are a perfect way to experience a shopping day like the locals and the high-end shopping malls offer a completely comfortable shopping experience for the tourists. When talking about traditional shopping in Doha, Souq Waqif is the first one that comes in mind. This is located in an area where the Bedouin tribes used to carry out their trade. This market has been given a traditional look with mud shops and a street market that serves as the top tourist attraction in the city. People can wander around this souq and find some of the most amazing stuff and also, there are numerous eating spots in the market.
Souq Al Dira
Besides the huge Souq Waqif, the Souq al Dira is located. It is not as fancy as Souq Waqif but it is the well-reputed place to get luxury fabric. For tourists who wish to purchase the best fabric from Doha, this place is a must-visit. Genuine cashmere pashminas and amazingly embroidered fabrics can be found here. It is a bit expensive as compared to other markets but the quality of the fabric here is unmatchable. Haggling is common here, therefore, do not be afraid to argue for the lowest price.
Museum of Islamic Art Park Bazaar
The tourists traveling to Doha in winter will have a chance to explore the Park Bazaar that is an open air market that is set up on every Saturday of the winter months. This market is famous for handmade jewelry, ornaments, and even homemade food. To get the best souvenirs, this place is a perfect spot. This bazaar has clothes’ stalls, food stalls, vintage stuff stalls and much more.
It is a small market, situated at the backside of the wholesale market. It is a great place to find unique stuff such as straw hats and truffles. Oud perfume and Omani frankincense can be found in this market. It is covered with an iron roof with narrow paths but moving around this market is fun and full of excitement.
Falcons are the most prominent birds in Doha. This bird is owned by a major portion of the population living in Doha. These birds are highly expensive and they have a whole souq dedicated to them. Tourists can go here for photography and exploration as it has falcons of every size.
The Pearl is a man-made island in Doha which is a very famous shopping spot for high-end shopping. This place is not the shopping area for people who have low shopping budget but for people who do not have a limited budget, this place is the perfect shopping area. Although, tourists can go here for window shopping and enjoy the highly sophisticated shopping area, which is lined with amazing restaurants.
Landmark Shopping Mall
For a comfortable shopping experience, Landmark Shopping Mall is one of the perfect places to go. The infrastructure of this shopping mall is similar to that of a Qatari palace and is lined with shops of the most famous, expensive brands and some smaller brands.
City Center Mall
This mall is very famous as it is connected to three luxury hotels. Currently, this mall is being renovated and extended but it is still open to people. It is one of the oldest malls in the city that provide a highly convenient way of shopping, safe from the summer heat.
Even though this is one of the smallest malls in Doha, it is designed with much smartness. The infrastructure of the mall is unique and beautiful. It is very famous among tourists as it is close to some famous hotels in the city.
Villaggio Shopping Mall
One of the most popular shopping malls in the city is the Venetian-style Villagio Shopping Mall. It is divided into two sections, one is the affordable section which is visited by the middle class, while the other half has the most high-end brand sand shops. The interior of this mall looks like an old town in Italy.
