Planning A Trip To The Soul Of Seoul

Most tourists travel to Seoul via the Incheon International Airport. The Airport is located in the neighboring city of Incheon on Yeongjong Island. Seoul can be used using AREX or the airport train to the Seoul station. However, if you are traveling with a lot of luggage limousine buses are a better option that travels directly to main areas and major hotels in Seoul. Taxis are also a convenient option to reach Seoul from the airport but they tend to get costlier as you are left to pay the toll charges and rush hour delays can cause another bump in the ride.

Best Time To Travel

That being said, the next question comes when to visit Seoul. The city experiences different climatic conditions and organizes different events throughout the year. It is however best to avoid the monsoon season or the summer months.

  1. March to May – Best time to visit Seoul

The best time to visit Seoul is during the months March to May. It is springtime in Seoul and the entire country blooms up. The city erupts with an overwhelming quantity of budding trees and cherry blossoms. The weather stays pleasant, with temperatures ranging between ten to twenty-three degrees Celsius maximum. A light jacket will come in handy during the winters. Though it is the best time to visit Seoul, surprisingly the prices of hotel and restaurants stay manageable. It is still advisable to book ahead of time as though the city doesn’t get crowded with a lot of tourists, those with a love for springtime flock Seoul during the season and can limit your options. The city hosts the Hangang Yeouido Spring Flower Festival and the Lotus Lantern Festival during the months of April and May respectively which is another huge attraction for travelers looking to see the city with its tradition and cultural practices.

  1. June to August

The months from June to August see temperatures soaring to as high as thirty degrees Celsius and precipitation as much as 350 mm. If you can stand oppressive humid conditions, heavy downpours and high costs of pretty much everything, then Seoul’s summertime will be the most attractive to you. The key attraction of these months is the vibrant festivals celebrated during the months of July and August; the Seoul International Cartoon and Film Festival in the month of July and the Seoul Fringe Festival in the month of August.

  1. September to November

Another favorable time to visit Seoul is during the months of September to November. The fall in Seoul sees temperatures ranging from twelve to twenty-six degrees Celsius with precipitation reach the highest at 137 mm. The fall months experience fewer to no spells of rainfall. The airfare and the hotel prices drop down to a significant low and the crowds tend to wade off which means that you can have a tourist attraction all to yourself. The city organizes Chuseok and Hi Seoul Festival during the months of September and October respectively. Chuseok is a public holiday and is considered as big as the Lunar New Year, South-Korea’s biggest holiday. Major travel attractions tend to get busy during this time rendering the rates of most places higher than the usual.

  1. December to February

If you are a powder hound, head to Seoul during the months of December to February which is also the winter months. Temperatures stay at anywhere between four and minus four degrees Celsius which means more opportunities for skiing in the mountainous terrains. With the drop in temperatures, the hotel prices and the airfare drop too. It is advisable to pack heavy coats and jackets for travel to Seoul during this time of the year. The city, however, gets congested with many visiting their hometowns to celebrate. The city celebrates Korean Lunar New Year or Seollal during the months of January – February.
