Private Guided Tour to Mount Matterhorn Area and Mount Gornergrat from Zurich

Meet your tourguide at your hotel in Zurich and begin this tour by transferring from Zurich to Visp on the 2-hour direct intercity train. Change onto the Matterhorn railway through the Matter-valley into Zermatt. The guide will lead the way through the car-free village, passing typical local houses, the main street full of Zermatt shops, the local cemetery, and the memorial of all alpine climbers of Mount Matterhorn.
Listen to the story of the first ascent of Mount Matterhorn and enjoy the view to the summit from the village. After a coffee break, the tour guide will lead the way to the train station. Board the cogwheel railway to mount Gornergrat. During the 35-minute ride, climb up to 10,285 feet (3,135 meters) above sea level. Upon arrival at the top, the guide will explain the surrounding mountains. He/she will also introduce the hut of Monte Rosa and the view of Mount Matterhorn.
After a break at the restaurant, the guide will head back to Zermatt so the group can visit the local museum (Oct - Mai depending on opening times), which provides an impression about mountain climbing and the first ascent of the Matterhorn summit. The visit will take approximately 40 minutes before the guide will lead the way back to the train station. Board the local train back to Visp and change onto the intercity train direct to Zurich. After 2 hours of transfer, you'll arrive at Zurich main station, where the tour ends around 6pm.
