My girlfriend and I spent 4 nights at Ambassador at the end of a 3 week trip around the Philippines. After staying in relatively modest accomodation for the trip, we wanted somewhere with a little more luxury to finish on a high. Ambassador did not disappoint. As soon we arrived we were blown away by the setting and all-round feel of the hotel. We've both stayed in fairly high-end all inclusive hotels in other parts of the world. Although ambassador is relatively small and doesn't offer the same range of facilities you'd find in some hotels, it was a beautiful hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The hotel's setting is the main selling point. The pool area and restaurant joins seemlessly with the beach, creating a stunning open plan feel. Sitting in the hotel bar with a beer while looking out at the sea was one of the highlights of our trip. The beach in Station 3 during our visit was superb - wide and sandy, with crystal clear water, and not crowded whatsoever. When walking down the beach to Stations 1&2, it was clear our part of the beach was much more relaxed and picturesque. We visited in mid-February for comparison.
One really appreciated the location in the evening when watching the sunset. The sunset in Boracay was possibly they most impressive I've seen, and I don't think you got a better view than at Ambassador. This was confirmed by the dozens of people who made their way up the beach every evening to where Ambassador sits. However being guests at the hotel meant we could get a great spot long before others arrived.
Overall the hotel's facilities were good. I used the gym several times, which had a good array of equipment and free weights, much better than a lot of hotel gyms I've used. It was easy to access as well, positioned very close to the pool area.
The bar and restaurant area were very clean and attractive to look at, as explained above.

There was some ongoing construction at the time of our stay. Presumably this was to carry out improvements/upgrades, which will hopefully benefit future guests. For my girlfriend and I, we were not overly affected by the construction. Some reviews we read suggested there was constant noise and disruption. We stayed in a poolside room with beach view, and we were not disturbed by the works, nor could we hear anything on the beach/at restaurant. Most of them construction seemed to be around gym/main hotel basement.
The pool itself was nice and clean. However, the seating area around the pool was almost non-existent. This meant the only place to sit was at the beach/bar area.
The amount of drinking water in the room was not very generous. We were provided with one 1L glass bottle per day, which did not go very far. Water from the mini fridge supposedly cost money, and the only water dispenser I could find in the hotel was in the gym.
There was no iron in the room. This might not be an issue for many guests, however for anyone wanting to iron shirts this is problematic. I was forced to use the hotel's pressing service, which was quite expensive.

We stayed with kids 6 nights in the family suite. I’m perplexed by the high rating of this „5star“ hotel. I suppose, most of these ratings are just fake. It’s an old 3 star hotel. I’m an architect having built over 20 resorts. I know what I speak about.
There is a smoking area direct near the entrance to the room. We smelled cigarettes in the room permanently. The curtains are not wide enough. So people smoking or walking by could see us from outside in the evening. A shower near the swimming pool is located inward the other entrance to the room. The bathroom in the suit has almost the same area as the bedroom!!! Strange design. But in this huge bathroom you don’t find a single hook to hang a towel. The room was dirty and only after we complained they cleaned it properly. At the same breakfast every day we sat immediately next to people laying on their subbeds. It was impossible to walk between sunbirds and tables.
As locals told us, Boracay was locked down for 6 months, since all hotels let their waste water into the sea. There was a big pipe to the sea from the Ambassador in Paradise, too. So the soil deep is still black - so much to the paradise. Now they have a wastewater treatment system directly at the entrance. So you smell “paradise” every time you enter or leave hotel. And last but not least. We paid over 500 Euro per night for the room. What is no more bus ends but pure robbery. So I highly recommend forgetting the name of this old hotel and look for newer ones.
